FAMLi 2024 presentation

I recently had the pleasure of traveling to Mexico City to present at Form and Analysis in Mayan Linguistics (FAMLi VII). It was very exciting to hear about everyone’s work and to enjoy some time at UNAM and around CDMX. The slides (in Spanish) from my talk on domain generalization and the development of final devoicing processes are available here.

I gratefully welcome anyone with insight into the patterning of final aspiration, final devoicing, or stress in any Mayan language(s) to comment/contribute to this database.

UCSC representation at FAMLi also included Professor Ryan Bennett, who gave an invited plenary talk on the phonology of laryngeal features and segments and Professor Jaime Pérez González (Chancellor’s Postdoc 2021-2023), who gave an invited plenary talk on preferred argument structure in Mocho’. Also in attendance were Professor Robert Henderson (PhD 2012), Sadie Lewis (BA 2023), and Professor Emerita Judith Aissen (not pictured).
