Our WordPress installation comes with 4 base themes (2011, 2012, 2014, and Vantage). Themes provide the basic structure of the site and incorporate various options for modifying the design. Design templates (below) are each based on one of these themes.
Note: You can change themes after creating a site, but keep in mind that it may significantly alter the look of your site and require additional work to adjust the design.
Design Templates are essentially web sites you can copy to get a head start on a design. When creating a new site, you will be presented with a number of designs to choose from as well as some "bare bones" templates that do not have any design elements built-in other than what the theme itself provides.
All design templates (except where noted) can be fully re-designed in every way that the underlying theme allows. The templates simply provide a quick start to a design that appeals to you.
Note: many design templates use Page Builder, which is a powerful tool for creating layouts in rows and columns. It is worth a quick overview of how to use it.
